Lula celebrates increase in the number of passengers at airports: "Brazil has broken another record."
The president highlighted that more than 51 million travelers circulated between January and May, the highest number in the historical series, according to Anac.
247 - President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) celebrated this Wednesday (25) the record number of passengers at Brazilian airports in the first months of 2025. In total, there were 51 million travelers in the first five months of the year, a growth of 10% compared to the same period last year. The data from the Demand and Supply Report, from the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac), were released by the Ministry of Ports and Airports.
Lula highlighted that the numbers were the best recorded in the historical series for this period of the year. "Brazil has broken another record. Between January and May of this year, more than 51 million passengers passed through the country's airports, the best result in the historical series for this period," he said.
The president concluded by stating that the data represents the recovery of the aviation sector in Brazil. "We had a 10% growth compared to the same period last year, which shows the sector's recovery and the strength of our economy," he concluded.
According to the survey, domestic flights transported almost 39 million passengers, an increase of more than 8% compared to the same period in 2024. International flights registered more than 11 million travelers, an increase of almost 16%. According to the Ministry of Ports and Airports, in May alone, 8,2 million passengers were registered on flights within the country, a 14% increase compared to May of last year.
