Airports break record and register 73 million passengers from January to July
According to a survey by the Ministry of Ports and Airports, traffic between January and July grew by 9,6% compared to the same period last year.
247 - Passenger traffic at Brazilian airports reached a new level in 2025. According to a survey by the Ministry of Ports and Airports (MPor), based on data from the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac), traffic between January and July grew by 9,6% compared to the same period last year, reaching 73,4 million travelers on domestic and international flights.
The highlight was international travel, which saw a 15% increase, totaling 16,4 million passengers in the first seven months of the year. In the domestic market, the increase was 8,2%, with 57 million people transported. During the same period, the number of flights also rose: there were 554.469 operations within and outside the country, a growth of 3,6%.
The Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, highlighted that the sector is experiencing a period of expansion. “This is another record for the number of people flying in Brazil, with figures surpassing all previous years' records. If this percentage increase is maintained throughout the second half of the year, we will close 2025 with approximately 130 million passengers,” stated the minister, according to Agência Gov. He also recalled that, throughout 2024, 118 million travelers passed through Brazilian airports.
July 2025 also marked positive performance, with 11,6 million passengers on domestic and international flights, a 7,5% increase compared to the same month in 2024. In the domestic market, the sector surpassed the 9 million passenger mark for the first time (9.031.000). The previous record was in July 2015, with 8,9 million. Compared to July 2024, the growth was 6%. In the international segment, the increase was 13,6%, reaching 2,6 million travelers — also a record for the month.
Regarding air cargo, performance was mixed. In the domestic market, 39,1 tons were transported in July, a decrease of 3,8% compared to 2024. In the international sector, there was growth of 0,8%, totaling 76 tons. The consolidated balance reached 115,1 tons moved, representing a slight negative variation of 0,8% compared to the same period last year.
