Thiago Leifert and his wife reveal that their young daughter has eye cancer (video).
It's a very rare type of cancer; the disease was the reason he left The Voice Brasil; "We want to share everything we know," said the presenter.
247 Lua, daughter of Tiago Leifert and Daiana Garbin, has cancer, and this was the reason why the presenter only participated in the first phase of The Voice Brasil.
The presenter and the journalist posted a video on Instagram this Saturday (29). See below.
Little Lua has retinoblastoma, a rare type of eye tumor.
"It's a cancer that occurs in the cells of the retina. They end up growing uncontrollably and forming tumors. In our daughter's case, it's bilateral. It's very difficult to detect this cancer, and that's why we're recording this video," Garbin stated.
The journalist said they were "lucky" to find out because Tiago noticed an "irregular" movement in his daughter's eyes.
"The Moon always saw everything, and we never imagined that anything was obstructing her vision. But Tiago started noticing a strange movement in the Moon's little eye," she said.
They said the girl has been undergoing treatment for four months, during which she has had four chemotherapy sessions.
According to the presenter, they chose to reveal their daughter's diagnosis to warn families with young children. "After the last chemotherapy session, we started to change our minds. We want to share everything we know today with you who are taking care of a baby. I told Dai that my dream was that, in May of last year, I would have access to a video of parents talking about retinoblastoma."
