Brazil, nearing 100 deaths, leads the world in coronavirus fatalities, according to the WHO.

Brazil (1.437), the United States (1.307), and India (886) were the countries that recorded the highest number of new deaths in the last 24 hours.

Sputnik - The World Health Organization (WHO) report, released this Friday (7), informed that the number of deaths caused by the new coronavirus around the world has risen to 709.511.

According to the international organization, Brazil leads the world ranking of new deaths for the second consecutive day, reported the UOL website.

The number of officially confirmed COVID-19 cases worldwide has risen to 18.902.735. This data may be outdated compared to the latest figures released individually by countries, as it was compiled earlier in the day.

Based on available information, the global mortality rate for confirmed coronavirus cases is 3,7%. During the period recorded by the WHO, the three countries with the highest number of new cases in the last 24 hours were India (62.538), Brazil (57.152), and the United States (53.373).

During this same time period, Brazil (1.437), the United States (1.307), and India (886) recorded the highest number of new deaths.
