The immediate expansion of service offerings, with the mobilization of the entire public and private health structure of the country, is accompanied by more investment in infrastructure through the New PAC Saúde program. A structuring front that will guarantee more health services for our population,” he stated.

Padilha emphasized that the program inaugurates a new cycle of providing specialists to the SUS (Brazilian Public Health System), bringing professionals to historically underserved regions. According to him, the objective is to guarantee medical presence where there is scarcity, especially in the interior of the country.

 “This is the first call for this unprecedented initiative, Agora Tem Especialistas (Now There Are Specialists), which, for the first time in the history of the SUS (Brazilian Public Health System), is creating a program to provide specialist doctors to expand care in hospitals and polyclinics. The goal is not to place more doctors where they already are, but to take them to where they are needed, to serve those who need them,” he declared.

Interior and Northeast regions receive greater reinforcement.

To improve the training of specialists and the quality of care, the ministry resumed the certification of teaching hospitalswhich requires proof of ongoing learning practices and a minimum number of beds allocated to the SUS (Brazilian Public Health System). Currently, the country has 202 teaching hospitals already certified.
