Brazil Agency - The Ministry of Health is holding the D-Day of Mobilization against Dengue this Saturday (2), across the country. The objective of the event, called Brazil united against dengue, is to carry out an integrated national mobilization action in all states, calling on civil society, digital influencers, media and local actors to raise awareness among the population about the characteristics of dengue and prevention procedures.

With the theme "Ten Minutes Against Dengue," the national mobilization aims to strengthen prevention and elimination efforts against mosquito breeding grounds. According to the Ministry, the action will involve the massive participation of health workers, ministers, governors, mayors, and secretaries to serve as spokespersons for the fight against the Aedes aegypti mosquito.

This week, Health Minister Nísia Trindade met with the country's state health secretaries to mobilize the states around the initiative and strengthen efforts to prevent and eliminate mosquito breeding sites. During the meeting, the minister emphasized the need for unity among federal entities to confront the disease outbreak.

"This is a time for attention not only from health authorities, the Ministry of Health, but also from society as a whole," he warned.

Since the beginning of the year, Brazil has registered 1.038.475 probable cases of dengue fever and 258 confirmed deaths from the disease. Another 651 deaths are under investigation. The incidence rate of dengue fever in the country at this time is 511,4 cases per 100 inhabitants, according to the Arbovirus Monitoring Panel.

Campaign

The federal government recently launched the "Ten Minutes Against Dengue" campaign. The campaign encourages citizens to dedicate ten minutes a week to fighting dengue, given that approximately 75% of breeding grounds are found in homes.

The idea is that this time is enough to ensure that water tanks are well closed, pour sand into plant pots, ensure that garbage bags are well tied, check gutters, avoid tires in uncovered areas, avoid accumulating scrap and debris, and empty PET bottles, pots, and vases.
