247 - The federal deputy elected for Santa Catarina, truck driver Zé Trovão, released a video on his social networks this Thursday (8) taking a stand after a photo of him appearing next to three rows of white powder went viral on the internet.

Zé Trovão doesn't explain the origin of the substance, but defends himself by saying that he was once a drug addict, but overcame the addiction and now bears the consequences "of past mistakes".

"Life is made of moments and choices, some good and some not so good, and the consequences need to be overcome. Life goes by and we change, and it's a good thing we do. Today, at the peak of my 34 years, I carry the consequences of things I did in my youth, but I changed, I changed for my family, I changed for my ideals, and I changed for myself. Never judge a person by their past mistakes; we don't know the battle that person carries within their heart," wrote Zé Trovão in the video caption.
