Brazil's Superior Electoral Court (TSE) authorizes the production of evidence against Richa for abuse of economic power.

Minister Herman Benjamin, of the Superior Electoral Court, upheld an ordinary appeal investigating abuse of political and economic power, illegal vote buying, and misuse of media and public resources in the reelection of Governor Beto Richa (PSDB). Responding to a complaint from Senator Roberto Requião (PMDB), who was defeated in the 2014 election, the TSE minister recognized obstruction in the defense of the PMDB member regarding the production of evidence in the first instance concerning 25 illegal acts committed by the PSDB member.

From the blog of Esmael MoraisMinister Hermann Benjamin, of the Superior Electoral Court, upheld an ordinary appeal investigating abuse of political and economic power, illegal vote buying, as well as misuse of the media and public resources in the reelection of Governor Beto Richa (PSDB).

Responding to a complaint from Senator Roberto Requião (PMDB), who was defeated in the 2014 election, the TSE minister acknowledged a restriction on the PMDB member's right to present evidence in the first instance. In other words, the TRE-PR had rejected the production of evidence regarding 25 illegal acts committed by the politician.

With Benjamin's decision, the Regional Electoral Prosecutor's Office will have to investigate all the items alleged by Requião.

The consequence of the Electoral Judicial Investigation Action (AIJE) and the Action to Challenge an Elected Mandate (AIME), filed by Roberto Requião, is the revocation of the mandates and political rights of Beto Richa and the vice-governor Cida Borghetti (PP).
