The president of the CRM/PR (Regional Council of Medicine of Paraná) resigns to avoid authorizing the registration of the Mais Médicos (More Doctors) program.
"I confess that I prefer the shame of resignation to having to live with the shame of betraying my conscience, because when an individual abandons their convictions, they lose their identity and the meaning of their existence," Alexandre Gustavo Bley stated in a note.
247 - The president of the Regional Council of Medicine of Paraná, Alexandre Gustavo Bley, resigned from his position this Tuesday (24) so as not to sign the registration documents for foreign doctors in the “Mais Médicos” program.
“I confess that I prefer the shame of resignation to having to live with the shame of betraying my conscience, because when an individual abandons their convictions, they lose their identity and the meaning of their existence. The government's pressure on the Councils has gone beyond argumentation and has clearly become intimidation, jeopardizing the existence of these institutions,” Bley stated in his resignation letter.
The Paraná council accepted the position of the Federal Council of Medicine to issue the first eight provisional registrations for exchange doctors. The 20 provisional registrations that should be issued by the CRM/PR by the beginning of next week are for doctors who will work in the following municipalities: Curitiba (3), Pinhais (3), Araucária (2) and Arapongas (2), in addition to Iguaraçu, Capanema, Campo Largo, Piraquara, Contenda, Mandaguari, São Miguel do Iguaçu and Mandaguari (all with one).
