'Paraná is being robbed by an incompetent government'

Senator Roberto Requião (PMDB-PR) touched on the sore spot of the crisis in Paraná, where the PSDB governor Beto Richa intended to take money from the civil servants' pension fund to pay salaries; 'Today, the government that bankrupted the state, that increased spending on appointed positions, the famous "aspones," by more than 400%, wants to get its hands on the pension fund and transform it into an instrument to pay public employees. It's robbery. It's as if the government were robbing a bank where civil servants deposited the savings that would guarantee their future,' criticized Requião regarding the PSDB governor Beto Richa's "package deal"; the measure generated a wave of protests in the state, where 30 civil servants are on strike and all public services are paralyzed.

Senator Roberto Requião (PMDB-PR) put his finger on the wound of the Paraná crisis, where the PSDB governor Beto Richa intended to take money from the civil servants' pension fund to pay salaries; 'Today, the government that bankrupted the state, that increased the value of expenses with commissioned positions, the famous "aspones," by more than 400%, wants to get its hands on the pension fund and transform the fund into an instrument to pay public employees. It's robbery. Paraná 247 - In response to the protests in the state against the "package deal" proposed by Beto Richa, a member of the PSDB party, Senator Roberto Requião (PMDB) stated that "Paraná is being robbed by an incompetent government."

“During my three terms as governor of Paraná, we took special care of the pension fund. We never failed to contribute the state of Paraná's employer contribution to the fund. And in the 2008/2009 crisis, our fund was the only one in Brazil that did not suffer losses. Today, excluding the funds of the large Brazilian state-owned companies, it is the largest pension fund in the country. And we did not suffer losses because I determined that the money guaranteeing the retirement of Paraná's employees should only be invested in the National Treasury,” the senator recalled.

“But today, the government that bankrupted the state, that increased spending on appointed positions—the infamous 'aspones' (advisors who do absolutely nothing)—by more than 400%, wants to get its hands on the pension fund and transform it into an instrument to pay public employees. It's robbery. It's as if the government robbed a bank where public employees deposited the savings that would guarantee their future,” he exemplified.

“And a number of irresponsible deputies are voting to end the fund for small favors, to guarantee an ambulance and control over some appointed positions. Paraná is being robbed by an incompetent and irresponsible government and by a majority of deputies who are either completely uninformed or completely idiotic,” he criticized.

The Paraná state pension fund currently holds R$ 8 billion. This money guarantees the future payment of pensions for state public employees who have contributed to Paraná Previdência throughout their careers. A project proposed by Governor Beto Richa seeks authorization to withdraw funds from this fund to pay off state debts.
