Sixth victim dies in tragedy on BR-277

Paraná 247 - The body of businessman Pedro Idalgo Filho, 55, the sixth fatal victim of the accident with a tanker truck on BR-277, in Paraná, is being mourned this Wednesday (6) in Apucarana, in the north of the state. Idalgo was admitted to the Hospital Evangélico with 90% of his body burned. He was transferred from the Hospital de Paranaguá to Curitiba on Monday (4), and, around 15 pm on Tuesday (5), he died.

The tragedy occurred late Sunday afternoon (3), when a truck driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a guardrail. The vehicle, which was carrying 44 liters of alcohol, exploded shortly afterwards. Twelve other vehicles were hit. The driver said that the vehicle's dashboard indicated a brake failure, but he continued the journey.

According to the Civil Police, he is under arrest and will face charges of intentional homicide with implied malice, meaning when he assumes the risk of killing.

A baby girl was found alive near the accident site. According to witnesses, the baby's father, Luiz Carlos Silva, 25, managed to pull her from the family car. He died.

The burial of Idalgo Filho is scheduled for 16 PM at the Cristo Rei Municipal Cemetery.
