247 - A Workers' Party activist was stabbed to death in a square in Curitiba (PR). It is suspected that the young man, Hiago Augusto Jatoba de Camargo (21), who was campaigning for the election of Gleisi Hofmann to the State Government and for the re-election of President Dilma Rousseff, was killed for this reason.

According to Blog do Tarso, the murder of Hiago, who was responsible for looking after the candidates' campaign signs, was allegedly fueled by "hate speech against the Workers' Party, and against politics, from the opposition, the old media, and the most backward sectors of society." The Paraná Looking Ahead coalition and gubernatorial candidate Gleisi Hoffmann express their solidarity and are providing all assistance to the family of Hiago Augusto Jatoba de Camargo (21), who died early in the evening of this Friday (19) as a result of an attack suffered in Praça Ucrânia in Curitiba, when he was campaigning with other activists.

An ambulance from SAMU (Mobile Emergency Care Service) attended to the young man at the scene. He died en route to the 24-hour UPA (Emergency Care Unit) in Campo Comprido.

We deeply regret what happened. We know that all the support and assistance given to the family cannot bring back what is most important: Hiago's life.

We urge the State Secretariat for Public Security to take all necessary measures to identify and punish those responsible for this aggression.
