Paraná 247 - Former PT treasurer Delúbio Soares and cattle rancher José Carlos Bumlai will participate this Monday (27) in a confrontation as a consequence of a Lava Jato Operation process. Bumlai will participate via videoconference in São Paulo and Delúbio in Curitiba, at the Federal Court. The confrontation was requested by Delúbio's defense, which denies Bumlai's version that the former treasurer mediated a loan of R$ 12 million from Banco Schahin to Bumlai.

Of the R$12 million, businessman Ronan Maria Pinto received R$6 million, according to the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office (MPF) – he is also a defendant in the case. Investigations indicated that the loan was repaid through the hiring of the Schahin Group as the operator of the Vitória 10.000 drillship by Petrobras in 2009, at a cost of US$1,6 billion.

According to the investigations, businessman Marcos Valério told the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office (MPF) that part of the loan obtained by Bumlai was destined for Ronan Maria Pinto, who extorted PT (Workers' Party) leaders. The MPF stated that it had no evidence to explain the motives for the extortion.

The money was intended for the purchase of shares in the newspaper "Diário do Grande ABC," according to the prosecution. Valério said the objective of buying shares was because the newspaper was linking Ronan Maria Pinto to allegations surrounding the death of the former mayor of Santo André, Celso Daniel.
