Man misses flight, trashes airport, beats employee in front of his children and flees in Rio Grande do Sul.

247 - A passenger caused a commotion at Pelotas Airport, in the southern region of Rio Grande do Sul, after missing a flight to Florianópolis, in Santa Catarina. According to information released by... g1 RSThe incident occurred on Sunday (9) and involved an assault on a terminal employee, as well as acts of vandalism. The man, who was accompanied by his wife and children, fled the scene after the incident.

According to the airport's communications office, the passenger arrived at the terminal after the boarding deadline and, when prevented from boarding the Voepass Linhas Aéreas aircraft, reacted violently. Witnesses report that he punched one of the employees, entered the staff room through the weighing area, and broke windows, as well as the terminal access door.

The victim of the assault received medical attention and needed stitches, but his condition is stable. He remains on medical leave.

Voepass Linhas Aéreas, in a statement, expressed solidarity with the assaulted employee and stated that it "stands in solidarity with the Voepass employee and has already made itself available to support him in whatever is necessary, repudiating any type of violent action, especially in situations where safety protocols are being applied."

The case is being investigated by the Civil Police, who are seeking to identify and hold the perpetrator accountable for the crimes committed at the terminal.
