247 - The governor of Santa Catarina, Jorginho Mello (PL), approved a bill from the ultra-Bolsonaro state representative. Ana Campagnolo (PL) which, in practice, establishes the "School Without Political Parties" program in the state, informs journalist Dagmara Spautz on the NSC Total portal.

The project, also signed by the Secretary of Education, Aristides Cimadon, implements the School Week to Combat Institutional Violence against Children and Adolescents in Santa Catarina. The law stipulates that during this week, between August 8th and 14th annually, “the knowledge of children and adolescents about the right to freedom to learn politically neutral content” should be expanded, and students should be guided on “actions to be taken in case of violation of rights”.

"When dealing with political, social, cultural, historical, and economic issues, the teacher will present to the students, in an equitable manner, the main competing versions, theories, opinions, and perspectives on the subject," the law adds. Thus, a teacher who teaches about the Brazilian Military Dictatorship, for example, is obligated to present the versions presented by the dictators and by established historiography.

>>> The governor of Santa Catarina supported Bolsonaro's measure that causes his state to lose R$ 700 per hour.

The law also stipulates that parents or guardians have "access to the curriculum content of school subjects and the approach taken to the topics taught," and that the "political, ideological, moral, and religious convictions" of the students' families are respected.

Dagmara Spautz's report adds that "since the law was published, teachers have expressed concern. The persecution of teachers is the central theme of the 'School Without Political Parties' program and an obsession of Representative Campagnolo – who, although before being elected she herself taught teenagers in the West wearing a t-shirt with a photo of former President Jair Bolsonaro, has launched a 'crusade' against teachers who promote what she calls 'indoctrination'."
