247 - City councilors The city of Montenegro, in Rio Grande do Sul, unanimously decided to revoke the mandate of councilwoman Camila Oliveira (Republicanos), in an extraordinary session this Monday, the 16th. By a vote of nine to zero, the former councilwoman is ineligible for eight years for breach of parliamentary decorum. The information is from journalist Tina Griebeler.

The impeachment request, submitted by the PDT party, was processed in the Montenegro City Council, under the analysis of a Commission formed by councilors Felipe Kinn da Silva, President; Valdeci Alves de Castro, Rapporteur; and Councilor Ari Arnaldo Müller, member. The final report had already been unanimously approved by the Commission.
Camila was not present at the trial, which concluded in the early afternoon. With the loss of her mandate, the seat will be filled by councilman Cristian Souza, also from the Republicanos party.
The Montenegro Women's Group, a collective formed by women from all social segments and political affiliations, has been monitoring the Chamber's sessions since the process began in mid-October of last year.
Liliane Melo, a member of the Collective, states, “It is regrettable that we have to mobilize to demand the removal of a woman, but the parliamentarian reproduced, in her statements, sexist remarks, attacking women who are involved in politics and take a stand in public life. Instead of using her mandate to ensure that public policies aimed at women receive the attention they deserve. Female mandates are still a minority, especially in the interior, however, it is not possible to tolerate attacks of this type,” she concludes.
