The mayor of Blumenau, Mário Hildebrandt, lamented the murder. "I don't have the courage to call the murderer a human being. He's not! He doesn't even deserve to be mentioned. It doesn't matter if the unit wasn't municipal. They were children from Blumenau, and we need to be here to help in any way we can," he said.
The General Commander of the Military Police, Aurélio José Pelozato da Rosa, assured that the Military Police are already working on security actions in the state's educational units. One of the initiatives is to implement the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) program during student arrival time, so that police officers enter the unit along with the students. Another action is the return of reserve police officers to patrol duty.
