Aloysio justifies massacre: Military Police did their job.

Senator Aloysio Nunes (PSDB) countered, this Thursday (30), the speech of fellow senator Humberto Costa, who classified as a "massacre" the acts of violence perpetrated by the Paraná Military Police, during a confrontation with teachers yesterday; about 200 people were injured and some of them remain hospitalized; Nunes defended the PM and Governor Beto Richa, affiliated with his party; according to him, the police only prevented the demonstrators from entering the Assembly, because they wanted to prevent the vote; "The idea that they were coming to monitor the vote is nonsense. They were going to prevent the vote, occupy the seats in the Assembly, the seats of the people's representatives, to prevent the session from taking place," he said.

247 - Senator Aloysio Nunes (PSDB) countered, this Thursday (30), the speech of fellow senator Humberto Costa, who classified as a "massacre" the acts of violence carried out by the Paraná Military Police, during a confrontation with teachers yesterday. Around 200 people were injured and some of them remain hospitalized. Nunes defended the PM and Governor Beto Richa, affiliated with his party.

According to him, the police only prevented the protesters from entering the Assembly because they wanted to prevent the vote. "The idea that they were there to monitor the vote is nonsense. They were going to prevent the vote, occupy the seats in the Assembly, the seats of the people's representatives, to prevent the session from taking place," he said.

He compared the episode to others involving movements linked to the PT. "I think, my dearest PT leader, that your party is the least authorized, among all political groups, to advocate prudence and moderation, because when it comes to promoting the political interests of your party, through so-called social movements, there is no moderation, what there is is an attempt to forcibly impose your points of view," he declared.

Before the statements by the PSDB senator, the PT leader in the Senate, Humberto Costa, demanded a critical stance from the PSDB, especially Senator Aécio Neves (PSDB-MG), regarding Beto Richa's handling of the episode. "In fact, it strikes me as odd that the new champion of the workers' struggle, the defender of the rights of the Brazilian working population, the chief defender of democracy in Brazil, the defeated candidate Aécio Neves, did not come to this podium today, or even to Parliament, to explain the PSDB's modus operandi in what happened yesterday in Paraná," he ironically remarked.

The senator also warned about the crisis that the state is experiencing. "The payment of state school teachers and the alteration of the category's pension system are a bombshell for the new PSDB (Brazilian Social Democracy Party) discourse of protecting workers. Since they have never been recognized for defending workers' rights, but rather those of large business owners and bosses, the current contradiction is interesting. Believe it or not, the financial situation in Paraná is so serious that there wasn't even enough money to pay the daily allowances of the police officers who were on duty yesterday during the protests," denounced the PT (Workers' Party) member.
