"The darkness is over. Long live democracy," says the widow of Marcelo Arruda, a member of the Workers' Party murdered by a Bolsonaro supporter after Lula's election.

"I feel like it's a matter of justice. That was his fight," said Pamela Silva, widow of the municipal guard and treasurer of the PT (Workers' Party) in Foz do Iguaçu.

247 - Pamela Silva, widow of municipal guard and PT treasurer Marcelo Arruda, who was murdered by Bolsonaro-supporting prison officer Jorge Guaranho during his own birthday party, said she was "relieved" by Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's (PT) victory in the second round of the presidential election. Pamela Silva followed the vote count at a restaurant in Foz do Iguaçu alongside her children Helena, 6, and Pedro (5), as well as supporters and sympathizers of the PT. According to the report, she believes that Lula's victory "should facilitate the progress of her husband's ongoing legal proceedings." 

“Friends and family of Marcelo prepared for the special moment that would be the second round. They ordered 200 t-shirts in various colors with Marcelo's image on the front and Lula's number, 13, on the back. Virtually all of them were sold, including to people from other cities who didn't know the Workers' Party candidate and ordered them through social media,” says Pamela. “Each person contributed what they could,” the report highlights.
