Bolsonaro supporters' violence in São Paulo is a test for Tarcísio, says Leonardo Sakamoto.

"The Republican governor controls a military police force that has shown leniency in enforcing the law when Bolsonaro supporters are the offenders," the journalist points out.

247 - The journalist Leonardo Sakamoto In his column on UOL, he argues that the attacks and the attempted closure of roads and Congonhas airport by Bolsonaro supporters who do not accept the election results are a test for the governor of São Paulo, Tarcisio de Freitas. "The governor from the Republicanos party controls a military police force that has shown itself to be lenient in enforcing the law when Bolsonaro supporters are the offenders," Sakamoto points out.

“This Friday, a week after Bolsonaro fled to the United States and the two-year anniversary of the Trumpist invasion of the Capitol, a motorcade of Jair's supporters drove through major avenues in São Paulo to demonstrate that they do not accept Lula's victory. They spread fear and chaos,” the columnist points out.

Sakamoto also notes that despite the attacks against an elderly woman recorded on video and the release of images showing the attempt to close one of the country's main airports, the extremists "were not harassed by security forces, which would not have happened if the blockade of Avenida 23 de Maio, one of the city's busiest avenues, had been carried out by members of the MST demanding resources for planting, by the MTST demanding housing, or by public school teachers demanding salary increases."

“Tarcísio appointed a Bolsonaro supporter as head of the São Paulo Security Secretariat, the reserve military police officer Captain Derrite. But he was elected by selling himself with a less radical discourse than his former boss. Depending on the escalation of the violent madness of the coup in São Paulo, he will be called upon to prove whether he is merely a proxy for Jair or if he has his own light,” he concludes.
