Emergency care units and hospitals are operating normally.
State health units will remain open during the Easter holiday.
Rio Agency - Hospitals and Emergency Care Units (UPAs) belonging to the state health network will operate normally during the Holy Week holiday, according to information from the Rio State Health Department.
Since 2009, the Health Department has implemented biometric timekeeping to monitor staff absenteeism in hospitals and emergency care units (UPAs) within the state network. This system has reduced the number of absences and improved transparency for the public, who can now hold the Department and the staff accountable for their presence at health facilities. When the system was first implemented, absenteeism rates reached up to 45%; today, the average is 12% in UPAs and 0,5% in state hospitals.
The Secretariat also emphasizes that the Emergency Care Units only attend to low-complexity urgent and emergency cases; therefore, the doctors working in the UPAs are general practitioners and pediatricians. There are no professionals from other specialties.
