Subway fare increases to R$ 4,30 in Rio.
The Agetransp (Regulatory Agency for Public Concession Services of Waterway, Railway, Metro and Road Transport of the State of Rio de Janeiro) authorized the new fare, which will come into effect on April 2nd; an index of 6,65% was applied to the value approved in the previous readjustment, referring to the variation of the IGP-M between January 2016 and January 2017, as stipulated in the contract.
Newspapers in Brazil - Agetransp (Regulatory Agency for Public Concession Services of Waterway, Railway, Metro and Road Transport of the State of Rio de Janeiro) authorized, based on the concession contract, a tariff readjustment for the public metro transport service for the year 2017.
The decision was made at the regulatory session held last Wednesday (22). The concessionaire is authorized to apply a balanced metro fare of R$ 4,30, starting on April 2nd. An index of 6,65% was applied to the value approved in the previous readjustment, referring to the variation of the IGP-M (inflation index calculated by the Getúlio Vargas Foundation) between January 2016 and January 2017, as stipulated in the contract. Users must be informed by the concessionaire 30 days in advance.
In the same session, Agetransp denied five appeals from the concessionaire SuperVia, which operates the rail transport system, and decided to uphold the respective fines, which had been applied between November and December 2016 and total R$ 584.153,65.
