Tarcísio will meet with Haddad to renegotiate the R$ 272 billion debt of the state of São Paulo.
A meeting to renegotiate the billion-dollar debt is scheduled for this Wednesday.
247 - The governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicanos), is heading to Brasília this Tuesday (12) to participate in meetings scheduled for Wednesday (13) with the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, and the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho. According to MetropolisThe purpose of the trip is to renegotiate the state's debt with the federal government, which reached R$ 272,5 billion by December 2023.
"Debts have been a topic of discussion among governors of states that are under the Fiscal Recovery Regime (RRF). The trend is that they will all meet with Haddad to renegotiate them. The first to meet with the minister was the governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite (PSDB), last week," the report highlights.
Although São Paulo is not formally included in the Fiscal Recovery Regime, the size of the debt motivated Tarcísio to join the other governors in seeking contractual changes that could alleviate the state's financial burden.
In the afternoon, Tarcísio will participate in an event at the invitation of Minister Silvio Costa Filho. The event will connect the municipalities of Santos and Guarujá, on the coast of São Paulo. The project was included in the Growth Acceleration Plan (PAC), therefore requiring the opening of a public consultation by the federal government. The project will be executed through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP).
According to the established terms, both the state of São Paulo and the federal government must each contribute R$ 2,7 billion to finance the construction of the tunnel, totaling R$ 5,4 billion, which is equivalent to 90% of the estimated cost of the project. The remaining R$ 600 million will be the responsibility of the private company that wins the bid to build and operate the underwater route.
Tarcísio is expected to return to São Paulo in the early evening. On Saturday (16), the governor will travel to Israel on Saturday (16), together with the governor of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado, at the invitation of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
