Tarcísio de Freitas is discharged from the hospital after undergoing a thyroid procedure.
Governor of São Paulo underwent radioablation this Sunday (3), after a benign nodule was discovered in routine exams.
247 - The governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicanos), left the Albert Einstein Israelite Hospital on Sunday night (3), after undergoing a radioablation procedure by ultrasound on the thyroid. The information was released by the newspaper The Globe.
The discovery of the thyroid nodule occurred approximately 20 days before the procedure, during routine medical examinations. After a biopsy, the results confirmed that the alteration was benign, leading the specialists to opt for radiofrequency ablation as treatment. Surgery to remove the nodule was also among the alternatives considered by the doctors.
The method used in the treatment of the governor's tumor consists of inserting a thin needle into the thyroid region, guided by ultrasound. Then, a radiofrequency current is applied directly to the nodule, promoting its heating and subsequent destruction.
Tarcísio has been undergoing regular medical monitoring since being diagnosed with testicular cancer a few years ago. It was precisely during this monitoring routine that the thyroid alteration was identified. This Monday (4), according to the report, the governor will resume his administrative activities, working in his office at Palácio dos Bandeirantes, the state government headquarters.
The medical procedure prevented the governor from participating in the pro-Bolsonaro demonstration held on Paulista Avenue on Sunday afternoon. The event, which was attended by São Paulo mayor Ricardo Nunes (MDB), had low participation from national political leaders, with only federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) and the president of the PL party, Valdemar Costa Neto, present.
During the event, Pastor Silas Malafaia, one of the organizers of the demonstration, indirectly criticized the absence of political figures who are considered potential successors to Jair Bolsonaro.
"Where are those who claim to be the alternative to Bolsonaro? Where are they? They should be here. Bolsonaro is irreplaceable. They're going to fool the gullible. They're afraid of the Supreme Court, they've made up an excuse. That's why it's Bolsonaro in 2026," Malafaia declared during the event.
