Brazil Agency - The Hospital Contingency Plan, with the reservation of beds exclusively for the treatment of patients with covid-19, which increased to 1.110, began to come into effect in the capital of São Paulo this Thursday (13). The accommodations are in the municipal hospitals Tide Setúbal, Waldomiro de Paula, Brasilândia, Guarapiranga, Parelheiros, Cachoeirinha, Menino Jesus and Professora Lydia Storópoli.

The plan includes extending the opening hours, from 19 pm to 22 pm, starting Monday (17), of 33 outpatient medical assistance (AMAs), basic health units (UBSs), and integrated AMAs/UBSs. Six more units, which currently operate for 12 hours, will start operating 24 hours a day. 23 tents will also be set up to accommodate the population in the municipality's units.

According to information from the city hall, all partners have already received authorization to hire doctors and nursing staff to meet the increased demand in Primary Care units, at the discretion of the regional health coordination offices (CRSs). Professionals linked to social health organizations (OSSs) will begin the 2021 overtime payment schedule in two stages – half in the first quarter and the other half in the second.

"Direct administration professionals who begin working on Saturdays will have their overtime pay included with their salaries. Social Service Organizations (OSSs) are authorized to purchase medications and supplies on an emergency basis," says the city hall.

Vaccination of children aged 5 to 11 with comorbidities or physical disabilities is scheduled to begin on Monday (17). Parents will have to present a medical certificate, prescription or exams that prove the condition. Vaccination will also be available for indigenous children in the same age group.

According to the municipal health secretary, Edson Aparecido, the city is expected to receive 60 doses of vaccines today, which will be promptly distributed to the primary health care units (UBSs), responsible for vaccination. "We are beginning a new phase in the vaccination campaign, with the provision of services to children. As we receive new doses, we will open vaccination by age group so that everyone can be served," he stated.
