Senator Mara Gabrilli (PSDB-SP) took a test on Monday (18) and on Tuesday (19) tested positive for Covid-19.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the senator has been secluded in her apartment in São Paulo, from where she participates in remote sessions held by the Federal Senate. It appears that the parliamentarian contracted the virus from one of her caregivers, who also has Covid-19 and whose mother, sadly, passed away last week due to the disease.
Mara Gabrilli, however, is doing well, without severe symptoms, but with loss of smell and taste. Following medical advice, the senator will remain in home isolation and will be away from activities for the next 14 days.
The senator reiterates her concern regarding the absence of an emergency plan for the thousands of people with disabilities, people with rare diseases, and elderly people who need a caregiver, which prevents them from fully adopting social distancing and isolation. Therefore, she calls for attention to the package of measures for the protection of people with disabilities during the pandemic, which she presented in the Federal Senate.
