Without Ronaldinho, Flamengo formalizes partnership with UNICEF.

A Rio de Janeiro club commits to expanding its social responsibility actions and mobilizing its athletes in campaigns in favor of children's rights.

Flamengo officially announced this Friday (4) a partnership with UNICEF, the United Nations Children's Fund. Under the agreement, the Rio de Janeiro club commits to expanding its social responsibility actions and mobilizing its athletes in campaigns in favor of children's rights.

The event this Friday, however, did not feature the club's main star. Ronaldinho Gaúcho was expected to attend, but did not appear for the signing of the agreement, which included his mascot and its creator, Maurício de Sousa. Flamengo's president Patrícia Amorim, swimmer Cesar Cielo, gymnasts Daniele and Diego Hypolito, and coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo were also present, as well as UNICEF's executive director, Anthony Lake.

Alongside Lake, Patrícia Amorim formalized Flamengo's adherence to the "My team is a 10!" commitment, a set of 10 principles linked to the protection and promotion of the rights of children and adolescents.

"We are very proud to be working with Flamengo. The club is showing great leadership in creating guidelines for promoting the rights of children and adolescents. The 'My team is a 10!' commitment is a wonderful step towards creating a club that will serve as a model for the community and other clubs," declared the UNICEF director.

The president of Flamengo also praised the partnership. "People and organizations in the world of sports have a crucial role in defending and promoting the rights of children and adolescents. Flamengo is enthusiastic and willing to take action to contribute to the defense of the rights of children and adolescents," said the leader.

The agreement with UNICEF provides for the creation of internal codes of conduct in the club's training centers with the aim of protecting and promoting the rights of child and adolescent athletes, including during recruitment processes. Actions will also be carried out in areas such as health, education, protection, family life, and recreation and leisure.
