Rio 247 - The mayor of Rio, Marcelo Crivella (PRB), dismissed the Secretary of Social Assistance and Human Rights, Teresa Bergher (PSDB), this Monday (4). In a statement, the PSDB member said that she will return to the City Council, where she was elected councilwoman, and that she will vote against the project that foresees an increase in IPTU, authored by the head of the executive branch.

"Confident that I have done my duty, tomorrow (Tuesday), I will return to the City Council to vote against the bill to increase the property tax. I am not after positions! I will never compromise my integrity and disappoint those who trusted me," said Teresa.

Crivella reportedly asked the congresswoman to return to the Chamber to help approve the proposal and then return to her post, which she was unwilling to do. She said she was surprised by the dismissal. "This back and forth, leaving the executive branch, going to the legislative branch to vote on what interests the government is absurd, unethical, and doesn't fit my profile," she stated.

According to G1, the city hall only stated that "Tereza Bergher was informed by the mayor that she would return to the City Council to vote on changing the IPTU (Property Tax) schedule."
