São Paulo: Health Secretary admits possibility of lockdown.
The São Paulo state Secretary of Health, José Henrique German, admitted that a lockdown could be adopted in São Paulo as a measure to contain the spread of Covid-19.
247 - In an interview with CNN, the São Paulo state Secretary of Health, José Henrique German, admitted that, given the increase in the number of deaths and cases of Covid-19, the government is considering adopting a lockdown to avoid a health catastrophe.
“We are in an ascending phase [of contamination]. I don't believe we've reached the peak of Mount Everest; we have a flattening of the curve, but it's still rising. In a catastrophic situation, this speed could increase significantly. And then, we could take harsher measures, such as restricting people's movement, a lockdown,” he stated.
German, however, states that he doesn't believe "we'll get to that point."
