Rio 247 – Federal deputy Romário, leading in the polls for the Senate race in Rio de Janeiro, owes R$ 1 million in property taxes and condominium fees, where his eldest daughter lives, in Barra da Tijuca.

According to columnist Bernardo Mello Franco, the congressman's press office says he is trying to resolve the matter with his ex-wife, Mônica Santoro, in court. She denies this: "That's a lie. We are experiencing enormous embarrassment."

The apartment is about to go to auction. And it wouldn't be the first time. Romário has already had a penthouse auctioned off to settle a debt of R$ 7,5 million and has also been sued for failing to pay the condominium fees for a commercial space.
