Rio ends 2013 with 100 jobs created.

The state recorded the creation of 100.808 formal jobs last year, representing a 2,67% increase for the year; the data comes from the Caged system of the Ministry of Labor and considers the Adjusted Series, which incorporates information declared after the deadline; the increase is mainly due to job creation in the Services sector (+50.966 jobs), Commerce (+24.467), Construction (+14.665) and Manufacturing (+11.411).

Rio government - The state of Rio de Janeiro registered the creation of 100.808 formal jobs in 2013, representing a growth of 2,67% for the year. The data comes from the Caged (General Registry of Employed and Unemployed Workers) of the Ministry of Labor and considers the Adjusted Series, which incorporates information declared after the deadline. The increase is mainly due to job creation in the Services sector (+50.966 jobs), Commerce (+24.467), Construction (+14.665), and Manufacturing (+11.411).

With this result, Rio de Janeiro became the second state that generated the most jobs in 2013, behind São Paulo. The Metropolitan Region alone registered an increase of 72.827 jobs, also incorporating declarations submitted after the deadline.

According to the Secretary of Labor and Income, Sergio Romay, the performance demonstrates the success of the job creation policy in the State of Rio.

- The job market should remain strong, due to sporting events and infrastructure projects. We currently have an investment front that is helping to boost the economy of Rio de Janeiro state. Highlights include Comperj (Rio de Janeiro Petrochemical Complex), the Metropolitan Ring Road, Porto Maravilha, the construction industry, the Southern Rio de Janeiro Automotive Hub, as well as the shipbuilding and oil and gas industries, in addition to the commerce and services sectors, which are keeping the supply of jobs high - said Romay.

The Ministry of Labor also released the list of municipalities in Rio de Janeiro state that registered the highest net job creation (hires minus layoffs) in December. The ranking is led by Duque de Caxias, with 782 new jobs; followed by Itaguaí, with 321; and Cabo Frio, with 248.

National data from Caged shows that Brazil created 1.117.717 formal jobs in 2013. This number represents a 14% decrease compared to the total of 1.301.842 jobs registered in the previous year. In 2014, it is estimated that job creation in the country should be between 1,4 million and 1,5 million jobs.
