Rio de Janeiro registers 48 cases of Covid in the communities.
The numbers are considered to be just the tip of the iceberg, as the city government has been releasing statistics based only on the 162 official neighborhoods, without a specific breakdown for the communities.
247 - According to data released by "Voz das Comunidades," the city of Rio de Janeiro has at least 48 registered cases of Covid-19 in communities in the capital, with at least five deaths.
The information is based on data from the Rio Covid-19 Panel, updated daily by the city hall of the capital of Rio de Janeiro.
Officially, there are 24 confirmed cases in Rocinha, in the South Zone, 8 in Manguinhos and 4 in Mangueira, in the North Zone, 4 in Cidade de Deus, in the West Zone, 2 in Maré and Jacaré, in the North Zone, 2 in Vidigal, in the South Zone, in addition to one in Complexo do Alemão and another in Acari, in the North Zone.
But these numbers are considered only the tip of the iceberg, as the city government has been releasing statistics based only on the 162 official neighborhoods, without a specific breakdown for the communities.
“Specific cases involving residents of communities are included within the counts of the neighborhoods where they are located. At this time, with the increasing number of confirmed cases, it is not feasible to produce this level of detail, which is based on counting each case individually. As soon as it is possible to conduct a new survey, the data will be released,” states the Municipal Health Department.
