The Brazilian Federal Revenue Service is depositing today the fifth batch of income tax refunds for individuals for 2011. The Revenue Service will also make deposits related to refunds from the 2008, 2009, and 2010 batches, only now released from the audit process. In total, approximately R$ 2,5 billion will be deposited.

The fifth batch of 2011 Income Tax refunds is the largest ever released by the Federal Revenue Service. Refunds will be credited to 2.656.556 taxpayers, totaling R$ 2.448.325.168,73, already adjusted by 5,93%. Of the taxpayers in this batch, 6.221 were prioritized because they are protected by the Statute of the Elderly.

Regarding the remaining 2010 batch, refunds will be credited to 24.665 taxpayers, with an adjustment of 16,08%. Concerning the 2009 batch, 6.491 taxpayers will receive refunds with an adjustment of 24,54%. From the 2008 batch, refunds will be credited to 3.031 taxpayers, with an adjustment of 36,61%.

The money will be deposited into the bank account provided by the taxpayer when filing their income tax return. If the deposit is not made or the taxpayer has changed accounts, it is necessary to go to any Banco do Brasil branch or call 4004-0001 (capital cities) or 0800-729-0001 (other locations). Hearing impaired individuals can use the number 0800-729-0088 for inquiries.

With the fifth batch of 2011, the Federal Revenue Service has practically released all refunds to taxpayers who submitted their tax returns this year on time. In the next batches, with rare exceptions, only the returns of people who waited until the last two days to file will be included, according to the supervisor of the Income Tax Program, Joaquim Adir.

The advice for those who have not yet received any refunds is to access the e-CAC (Virtual Taxpayer Service Center) and check for any outstanding issues. On the e-CAC, it is possible to view the statement of the tax return and any observations related to the return. If there are any outstanding issues, the taxpayer must file an amended return.

The consultation of the batches was released on the 10th on the Revenue Service's website. Taxpayers can also obtain information through Receitafone (146). In both cases, it is necessary to provide the CPF number. The information is from Agência Brasil.
