Quaquá says Lula needs more ministers like Alexandre Silveira: "He delivers and gets things done."
The mayor of Maricá praised the role of the Minister of Mines and Energy.
247 - The Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, has established himself as one of the most influential figures in President Lula's government. On Wednesday (24), Silveira participated in a meeting with the mayor of Maricá, Washington Quaquá (PT), and the president of Petrobras, Magda Chambriard, to discuss joint projects involving the City Hall, the Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST) and the state-owned company. After the meeting, Quaquá did not hold back on the praise: “Alexandre Silveira is a beast. The government needs more ministers like him: a dedicated, intelligent guy who delivers and gets things done. I want to make it clear to everyone, from the PT and Brazil: we have a great minister who will be our partner in a major project with the landless rural workers.”"he said.
Partnership focused on agroecology and reforestation.
The meeting, held during a luncheon organized by João Paulo Rodrigues, national leader of the MST (Landless Workers' Movement), also included the presence of the president of Codemar, Celso Pansera, former minister Tereza Campello, former senator Tião Viana, jurist Cristina Vargas, and other community leaders.
Among the main points discussed was Maricá's intention to acquire properties to allocate to agroecology projects in partnership with the MST (Landless Workers' Movement). According to Quaquá, the objective is to generate income, expand sustainable production, and strengthen public policies focused on food security. Reforestation initiatives to recover degraded areas and prepare the municipality for the environmental challenges of the next decade were also discussed.
Maricá as a benchmark in sustainability.
Quaquá highlighted that the city intends to anticipate the COP-30 conference, scheduled for 2025 in Belém, by presenting concrete results in environmental and social policies. "COP-30 is coming, and we're getting ahead of the curve. The Maricá of the future will be greener, more sustainable, and with income and opportunities for everyone.", he said.
The strategy aims to consolidate Maricá as a national reference in the debate on energy transition, social inclusion, and sustainable development. With the support of Petrobras, the MST (Landless Workers' Movement), and political leaders, the municipality projects itself to attract investments and strengthen its leading role in discussions on the environment and social justice.
