Holy Week processions fill the streets of Rio.

City streets will be closed this Friday for religious processions; the largest portion of the events takes place after 16 PM.

Rio Agency - Processions celebrating Holy Week will close streets throughout the city this Friday (6). The Tijuca region is one of those that will have the most traffic restrictions. Between 16:30 pm and 18:30 pm, São Francisco Xavier, Marquês de Valença and Pereira de Siqueira streets will be closed to vehicles. From 19:30 pm to 20:30 pm, a procession will use Major Ávila, Santa Sofia, Pareto, Santo Afonso, Antonio Basílio streets and Maracanã avenue. 

Another religious celebration in Tijuca will take place on Haddock Lobo, Matoso, Barão de Itapagipe, and Engenheiro Adel streets, from 18 PM to 20 PM. In Vila Isabel, a procession will use Boulevard 28 de Setembro, as well as Visconde de Abaeté, Cons. Autran, and Duque de Caxias streets, from 17:30 PM to 19:30 PM. From 16 PM to 19 PM, a procession in São Cristóvão will use Fonseca Teles, Cadete Ulisses, Mineira, Euclides da Cunha, and São Cristóvão streets. 

In the South Zone, there will be a procession in Leblon, which will close sections of Borges de Medeiros, Delfim Moreira and Afrânio de Melo Franco avenues, starting at 17 pm. In Glória, a procession will use Benjamin Constant, Fialho, and Santo Amaro streets, up to the top of the hill, starting at 9 am.

In the North Zone, a procession will be held in Irajá, which will close Estrada Coronel Vieira, between Avenida Monsenhor Félix and Rua Tanabi, from 15 pm to 21 pm. A procession in Cachambi will use the streets Coração de Maria, Visconde de Tocantins, Getúlio and Salvador Pires, from 19 pm to 21 pm.
