Privatization of the Port of Santos is out of the question, says Márcio França.

The statement by the Minister of Ports and Airports is a bucket of cold water on Tarcísio.

247 - The Minister of Ports and Airports, Márcio França, stated this Friday (5) that the privatization of the Port of Santos is out of the question. Furthermore, according to the member of Lula's government, other port authorities will also not be privatized.

France characterized Jair Bolsonaro's attempt to privatize the Port of Santos as a "delusion." The governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas, defends the privatization of the Port of Santos, and even said that he will "fight until the last moment" to authorize the measure.

The minister argued that ports are strategic assets that cannot be granted to foreign companies, many of them state-owned, which could interfere with Brazil's export dynamics.

“That (privatizing the Port of Santos) is out of the question. It was a bit of a pipe dream,” said França, during a visit to the Port of Rio, late Friday morning. (With information from The State of S. Paul).
