247 - The Minas Gerais court upheld, during a custody hearing, the pre-trial detention of businessman Renê da Silva Nogueira Junior, 47, accused of murdering garbage collector Laudemir de Souza Fernandes in Belo Horizonte. This information comes from... CNN. The crime, which occurred after a traffic dispute, was classified as aggravated homicide with two qualifying factors: trivial motive and hindering the victim's defense.

During the hearing, the magistrate granted two requests made by the defendant's legal team. The first guarantees that the prison unit will provide continuous medical and pharmaceutical care, as Renê uses controlled medication. The second prohibits photographs of the businessman from being taken inside the prison facilities, a measure that, according to the judge, aims to preserve the defendant's image while he is in state custody.

The case indicates that Renê became irritated by the presence of a garbage truck on the road, threatened the driver, and then shot Laudemir, who was working at the time and had no chance to react. The judge highlighted, in his decision, the social dangerousness and repeated offenses of the businessman, who is already facing charges for serious bodily harm in São Paulo.

The judge also mentioned the fact that the accused was found at a gym shortly after the crime: "He commits a crime of this magnitude, of this level, and goes to train at a gym?" According to him, this behavior reinforces the seriousness of the case and the need for pretrial detention.

Renê also has a prior record for assaults and a murder in Rio de Janeiro. According to the courts, this set of evidence demonstrates that his freedom poses a risk to public order.
