PPS files complaint against Bethlem
The party filed a complaint with the General Secretariat of the Chamber of Deputies against federal deputy Rodrigo Bethlem (PMDB-RJ), one of the main allies of the mayor of Rio and his party colleague, Eduardo Paes (PMDB); members of the party are requesting an investigation into allegations that NGOs gave illegal commissions to the PMDB member during his tenure at the Secretariat of Social Assistance of the city of Rio, between 2011 and 2012.
Rio 247 - The PPS filed, this Tuesday (29), a representation with the General Secretariat of the Chamber of Deputies against federal deputy Rodrigo Bethlem (PMDB-RJ), one of the main allies of the mayor of Rio and his fellow party member, Eduardo Paes.
Members of the party, presided over by Roberto Freire, are requesting an investigation into allegations that Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) gave illegal commissions to the PMDB member during his tenure as Secretary of Social Assistance for the city of Rio, between 2011 and 2012. The formal complaint was signed by the leader of the PPS in the Chamber of Deputies, Representative Rubens Bueno (PR).
The allegations were revealed by Veja and Época magazines. Businesswoman Vanessa Felippe, Bethlem's ex-wife, made recordings in which the congressman confesses to having received R$ 85 per month from NGOs during that period. As a consequence of the allegations, the PMDB party in Rio de Janeiro wants the congressman to leave the party and withdraw from the reelection race. The congressman denies the accusations.
