Police will investigate other businesses in Tiradentes Square.
Establishments near the restaurant, which exploded on Thursday, will have to explain the use of 13kg gas cylinders; testimony from the owner of Fil Carioca is scheduled for this Monday (17)
Rio 247 - "Neighbors" of the Filé Carioca restaurant, which exploded on Thursday in Praça Tiradentes, will have to explain to the police the use of 13kg gas cylinders. According to investigations, so far cylinders — three on the first floor and one on the mezzanine — have been found and those responsible will face administrative and criminal sanctions. This Sunday, six 45kg cylinders from the restaurant were removed from the basement and handed over to forensics. The case is being investigated by the deputy chief of the 5th DP (Gomes Freire), Antônio Bonfim.
Experts from the Carlos Éboli Criminalistics Institute reported that the cylinders were in a location that would be the employees' changing room. The material will be sent for analysis and will undergo weighing, so that the amount of gas that leaked can be determined. The six 45 kg cylinders were removed from the rubble this Sunday. According to Bonfim, one of them showed a leak, but it did not pose a danger to experts and other employees. The testimony of the owner of Filé Carioca is scheduled for this Monday (17), but the defense has already obtained two postponements.
