Police conduct operation in four hills of Niterói

From RJ24Horas - The Military Police are carrying out operations this Wednesday (the 4th) in four communities in the municipality of Niterói to establish a detached company. The Special Operations Command (COE) is occupying the hills of Palácio, Estado, Arroz and Chácara, Centro, Icaraí and Ingá, with approximately 400 men. The operation has no set completion date and the command center will be based at the 12th BPM (Niterói).

The Military Police are once again requesting the cooperation of residents for police operations in the communities.

According to the police, an important way to collaborate is to report criminals, hideouts, and locations where weapons, drugs, and other illegal products are stored.

Residents must carry identification documents, and drivers and motorcyclists will be required to show vehicle ownership documents, as well as a valid driver's license. In the case of motorcycles, the use of a helmet will also be required.

Later this Wednesday morning, the Social Communication Coordination Office of the Military Police will release a report on the first hours of the operation.
The installation of the company is a long-standing request from the residents of Niterói. In the first half of the year, the number of homicides increased by 40%, assaults on pedestrians grew by 30%, and robberies of commercial establishments by 20%, compared to the same period last year.

According to the commander of the 12th BPM, Lieutenant Gilson Chagas, the first company will operate in the city center, occupying the communities of Morro do Estado and Morro do Palácio.
