Police conduct massive operation in search of rapists.

Seventy men from the Tactical Action Group and the Special Operations Command, supported by sniffer dogs, a helicopter, armored vehicles, and patrol cars, are conducting a raid in the communities of São José Operário and Covanca, in Praça Seca, West Zone of Rio, to search for suspects involved in the case of the teenager who reported being the victim of a gang rape involving 33 men.

247 - Sunday (29) in Rio de Janeiro dawned with the Military Police carrying out searches in the communities of São José Operário and Covanca, in Praça Seca, West Zone of Rio, to look for suspects involved in the case of the teenager who reported being the victim of a gang rape involving 33 men. Seventy police officers are participating in the action, reports the G1 website.

Ordered by the General Command of the Corporation, the operation is spectacular, with men from the Tactical Actions Group and Special Operations Command (COE-GAM and BAC), under the command of the 9th BPM, sniffer dogs, a helicopter, two armored vehicles and several patrol cars.

The operation began around 6 a.m., and, as of 9:30 a.m., there was no information on arrests or seizures. According to the Military Police, no exchange of gunfire had occurred up to that time.

On Saturday, another suspect involved in the gang rape was arrested in the West Zone during a police operation in São José Operário, in Praça Seca. He was taken to the City of Police, from where he was released after giving a statement.

Two other suspects were questioned on Friday, the day police located the property where the young woman was allegedly abused in the community. At the location, police seized clothing and materials used for packaging drugs.

On Friday night, a young man claimed responsibility for posting the images of the teenage girl online. Identified as Raí de Souza, the 22-year-old was not among the suspects previously identified by police as being involved in the case.

Raí appeared at the police station along with Lucas Perdomo Duarte Santos, 20, a soccer player whom the teenager told police was her boyfriend and with whom she had gone out the night before the incident. According to the police chief, Lucas denied dating the girl, and Raí admitted to having had sexual relations with her.
