Rio de Janeiro police order removal of Star of David in Israel Complex
The star was installed in an area where self-proclaimed evangelical drug traffickers operate. They are allegedly expelling those who do not follow their faith from the communities.
247 - Military Police officers from the Special Operations Command (COE) removed this Tuesday (11) the Star of David that was on top of a water tower in one of the highest points of Cidade Alta, in the northern zone of the municipality of Rio de Janeiro, one of the five communities of the Israel Complex. The agents carried out the removal in the operation that demolished a residence in the Parada de Lucas neighborhood. Police also removed flags with the star that were distributed on towers in the other four communities of Pica-pau, Cinco Bocas, Parada de Lucas and Vigário Geral.
According to FSPThe star was installed during the pandemic, when drug trafficker Álvaro Malaquias Santa Rosa, known as Peixão, created the Israel Complex, where self-proclaimed evangelical drug traffickers operate.
The report indicated that criminals are prohibiting residents from practicing other beliefs in their territories, expelling those who do not follow their faith. According to biblical accounts, David was the second king of Israel, succeeded by his son Solomon, also before Christ (BC).
The drug trafficker Santa Rosa was never arrested. He and his empire ordered the installation of cameras throughout the communities, commissioned the construction of bridges between the favelas, and had disagreements with a local Catholic church, which culminated in the closure of the religious temple.
The criminal has already been investigated for ordering attacks on Afro-Brazilian religious sites, through the actions of the Bonde de Jesus criminal faction in Duque de Caxias, in the Baixada Fluminense region, where he was born. He himself preached in an evangelical church in the city.
