A military police officer applied a chokehold to a Black man while forcibly removing him from his home in the municipality of João Ramalho, in the interior of São Paulo.
247 Two military police officers forcibly removed a young black man from his home in João Ramalho, in the interior of São Paulo, and one of the officers applied a chokehold to the man. The young man was allegedly pursued by the police to his home because he was riding a motorcycle without a license plate.

Cases of brutality against Black men have garnered increasing public outrage in Brazil since May, following the death of George Floyd, a Black man who died after being restrained and asphyxiated by a white police officer in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
