Picciani says Pezão broke Rioprevidência.

Picciani mentioned that the governor granted widespread salary increases to civil servants in 2014, on the eve of the elections. When questioned about Pezão's statements that it is necessary to confront the issue of the pension deficit head-on, Picciani criticized: "It's a shame that Pezão didn't think about this in 2014, when he granted increases to almost all categories. In fact, Pezão bankrupted Rioprevidência (the state pension fund)." These statements were made in an interview on the program "Jogo do Poder," which will be broadcast on Sunday the 22nd.

Rio 247 - In an interview on the program "Jogo do Poder," which will air next Sunday the 22nd, the president of the Legislative Assembly of Rio de Janeiro, Deputy Jorge Picciani, blamed Governor Luiz Fernando Pezão for the insolvency situation of Rioprevidência (the state's pension fund).

Picciani mentioned that the governor granted widespread salary increases to civil servants in 2014, on the eve of the elections. When questioned about Pezão's statements that it is necessary to confront the pension deficit head-on, Picciani criticized: "It's a shame that Pezão didn't think about this in 2014, when he granted increases to almost all categories. In fact, Pezão bankrupted Rioprevidência (the state pension fund)."

The congressman emphasized that he has no personal disagreements with the governor, and that his criticisms are limited to administrative matters. Even in this area, he praises Pezão's efforts in negotiating with the federal government for Rio to join the fiscal recovery program. "Pezão was tireless in seeking this agreement," he states.

The president of Alerj, however, regrets the privatization model for Cedae adopted by the governor, with BNDES arbitrarily valuing the company at R$ 5,9 billion. He advocated for granting concessions for distribution across five or six regions, while maintaining water production with Cedae.

"The Barra da Tijuca concession alone, given its potential, would bring in more than R$ 15 billion to the state coffers. The state has allocated R$ 3 billion in investments in Guandu 2 alone. And the BNDES (Brazilian Development Bank) says the company is worth just over R$ 5 billion. Back then, I had proposed this other model to the governor, which unfortunately didn't move forward," he recalls.

The end of the UPPs, with the immediate transfer of police officers to battalions, is another of his proposals. According to Picciani, the units have lost their purpose because the State cannot hire the 60 men from the original project. With the resurgence of violence in the communities, the current force – trained for community policing and not confrontation – has lost its effectiveness.
