Brazilian Federal Police arrest man with 5kg of cocaine aboard cruise ship in Rio de Janeiro.
The suspect was arrested as the boat docked in Guanabara Bay.
247 - The Federal Police (PF) arrested a man in the act of transporting approximately 5kg of cocaine on a cruise ship in Guanabara Bay, Rio de Janeiro. The action took place during the execution of a preventive arrest warrant, issued by the 1st Federal Court of Ilhéus (BA), where the suspect had an accomplice who had already been arrested previously with a large quantity of drugs.
According to the Federal Police, the suspect was arrested aboard a ship coming from Ilhéus, and his capture was carried out by the Special Maritime Police Unit (NEPOM/RJ) at the time of docking in Guanabara Bay. The preventive arrest warrant was issued during the ship's journey, after the arrest of the woman identified as an accomplice.
The Federal Police action is part of the Law and Order Guarantee Operation (GLO), in effect since November 6th and scheduled to last until May 3rd, which is taking place in the ports of Rio de Janeiro, Itaguaí and Santos, as well as in the Galeão and Guarulhos airports.
