Brazilian Federal Police arrest Frenchman with extradition request approved by the Supreme Court.

The Federal Police arrested a 37-year-old Frenchman in Baixada Fluminense, fulfilling a preventive arrest warrant for extradition approved and issued by the Supreme Federal Court (STF); the man was at home, in the Essolândia neighborhood, in Nova Iguaçu; according to the PF, he did not resist the arrest carried out yesterday (15), but only disclosed this Tuesday (16); the foreigner had lived in Brazil for six years, lived with a partner and worked as a salesman.

The Federal Police (PF) arrested a 37-year-old Frenchman in Baixada Fluminense, Rio de Janeiro. The PF executed a preventive arrest warrant for extradition approved and issued by the Supreme Federal Court (STF). The man was at home, in the Essolândia neighborhood, in Nova Iguaçu. According to the PF, he did not resist arrest, which took place yesterday (15), but was only announced today (16).

The foreigner had been living in Brazil for six years, lived with a partner, and worked as a salesman. After the police procedures were completed, he was taken to the Ary Franco Prison in Água Santa, in the northern zone of Rio, where he will remain at the disposal of the Supreme Federal Court.

The extradition request was submitted by the Swiss government, where the Frenchman is accused of extortion. According to the Federal Police, even from a distance he continued to commit extortion in Europe.
