Pezão: 'If Crivella comes with violence, he'll get what's coming to him'

The governor of Rio, running for reelection, stated that he will toughen his criticism of his opponent Marcelo Crivella (PRB); after being called "Pinocchio" by his competitor, the PMDB member retorted by calling the parliamentarian "Crivellinho," a fusion of Crivella and Anthony Garotinho (PR); "If he set the tone, he'll get the tone. If he comes to discuss the future of Rio, I have proposals to debate. Rio 247 – The governor of Rio, Luiz Fernando Pezão, who is trying to be re-elected, stated this Wednesday (8) that he will toughen his criticism of his opponent Marcelo Crivella (PRB). The senator referred to the PMDB member as "Pinocchio", in a debate promoted by the Brazilian Bar Association and Veja magazine.

Pezão attacked his opponent by calling the congressman "Crivellinho," a fusion of Crivella and Anthony Garotinho (PR), the federal deputy who came in third in the race for governor of Rio.

"In the first round, I was getting beaten by all four. Despite being strong and big, I can't fight against four. In the second round, I didn't set the tone. In Senator Crivella's first question, he came back with another nickname. If he set the tone, he'll get what's coming to him. If he comes to discuss the future of Rio, I have proposals to debate. If he comes with jokes and violence, in his peculiar style, he'll get what's coming to him," said Pezão, before a meeting with residents of Nova Iguaçu, in the Baixada Fluminense region.

The candidate reported that he received support from three more parties, without specifying which ones. "I am expanding the alliance. I am very excited, despite fighting against all my opponents from the first round, from the divided PT," he stated.

In the first round of the state election, Pezão received 40,57% of the valid votes. Crivella came in second with 20,26%, followed by Garotinho (19,73%) and Senator Lindberg Farias (PT-RJ) with 10,0%.
