Rio 247 - The governor of Rio de Janeiro, Luiz Fernando Pezão, announced an adjustment of up to 10,22% in the salaries of military and civil police officers, firefighters, prison officers and other employees of the Security and Penitentiary Administration secretariats. The salaries will be paid next Tuesday (14). The head of the executive had a meeting with the presence of the Secretary of Security, Roberto Sá; the general commander of the Military Police, Colonel Wolney Dias; and other members of the Security leadership.

According to Pezão, the state will adhere to the schedule and pay the January salaries of active and retired security personnel and active education employees on the tenth working day (February 14th). He said that the security salaries will be paid with another installment of the readjustment granted in 2014.

In a statement, the governor said that, "since the middle of last year, when all this difficulty arose and revenue worsened, we have scheduled payments, mainly for Education and Security, for the tenth working day of the month. So, the tenth working day is the 14th, and we will pay the Security employees on that day, with the adjustment, and the Education employees, as we have done in previous months."

"We know what public safety represents for the State of Rio. That's why we maintain this commitment at all times, even with great difficulty. It's a very difficult situation. I wanted to pay all the civil servants on time, but I depend on the agreement we are making with the Federal Government and the approval of the measures we will send to the Legislative Assembly. This will provide predictability to pay salaries on time and for everyone to receive their pay on the same day," the text says.
