Brazil Agency - The death toll in Petrópolis as a result of the storm that hit the city in the mountain region on Tuesday (15) reached 198. According to the State Secretariat of Civil Police (Sepol), among the fatalities, 119 are women and 79 are men. Of this total, 37 are minors.
As of 7:40 am today (23), 181 victims were identified, 170 were released to funeral homes and the rest are awaiting the appearance of their families at the Legal Medical Institute (IML).
The Civil Police technical team is still analyzing the DNA of nine remains, which are body fragments, found during the searches. To date, 69 missing persons have been reported to the Missing Persons Discovery Unit (DDPA).
Today is the ninth day of operations by the Fire Department in the imperial city to find missing people and recover areas affected by the rain, which has been falling since last Tuesday in the municipality and has interrupted work at various times.

Civil Defense is monitoring the weather 24/7. Moderate rain showers are forecast for today's afternoon and evening.
Civil Defense recommends that the public pay attention to SMS alerts and sirens that indicate a risk of landslides. In emergency situations, the recommendation is to call 193 for the Fire Department and 199 for Civil Defense.
Among the regions most affected by landslides, landslides and floods are the areas of Alto da Serra in Morro da Oficina, Sargento Boening, Vila Felipe, Rua Itália and Caxambu.
The joint action of Civil Defense with agents from all sectors of the city government is supported by state and federal government agencies to respond to incidents and conduct inspections in affected regions.

According to Civil Defense, nearly 1,8 incidents have been recorded throughout the city, primarily in the areas of the first district, which are the most affected. Most of these cases involve landslides.
"With increased personnel, Civil Defense continues to conduct global inspections of affected areas and intensifies the production of detailed, case-by-case reports. To date, more than 500 Incident Reports have been forwarded to technical teams," the agency reported.
The 13 municipal support centers are sheltering 811 people. In addition to receiving the homeless, the Social Assistance Secretariat provides support to people who are in alternative locations, structured by the communities, to accommodate those who had to leave their homes in at-risk areas.
The city's recovery work is carried out by members of the Public Works, Service, Security and Public Order, Social Assistance, Health, Education, Administration, Planning departments, as well as the Petrópolis Municipal Development Company (Cmdep) and the Petrópolis Transit and Transport Company (CPTrans).
