With 9.765 new confirmed cases in the last 24 hours, the state of São Paulo broke its record for daily coronavirus cases for the second consecutive day. This brings the state's total to 248.587 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic.
In the last 24 hours, the state recorded 406 new deaths from Covid-19 (the disease caused by the new coronavirus), bringing the total number of deaths from the disease to 13.759.
According to the São Paulo state Secretary of Health, José Henrique Germann, the number of cases and deaths are within the projections set by the government for the month of June.
The state has 5.608 people hospitalized in intensive care units (ICUs) with suspected or confirmed cases of coronavirus, in addition to 8.369 patients hospitalized in wards. The ICU bed occupancy rate in the state is currently around 65,5%, while in Greater São Paulo it is at 67,9%. The total number of people who have recovered, after being discharged from the hospital, reached 40.859 today.
